Express Entry: 4,000 ITAs for French-Language Applicants Issued

IRCC issues 4,000 invitations under French-language proficiency in the latest Express Entry draw.

On April 29, 2026, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) announced a new round of invitations through its Express Entry system, issuing 4,000 invitations to apply (ITAs) for candidates with French-language proficiency. To qualify for this draw, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 400 and had to create their Express Entry profile before 8:13 p.m. UTC on April 7, 2026.

Details of Recent Express Entry Draws

This latest draw was the fifth one focused on French-language proficiency in 2026, making it part of the twenty-sixth Express Entry draw this year. While Express Entry draws have been less frequent in 2026, their larger size has meant a consistent number of ITAs. French-language candidates have received substantial attention, ranking second in ITA issuance, just behind the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

So far this year, the total number of ITAs issued in 2026 stands at 71,627 across various categories, including Canadian Experience Class, French-language proficiency, and Provincial Nominee Program.

Focus on Canadian Immigration Candidates

This year, the IRCC has placed a significant focus on candidates already residing in Canada. A large portion of the ITAs issued have been for individuals with Canadian work experience or provincial nominations.

The ITAs have been distributed across several categories, with the largest number going to Canadian Experience Class candidates, followed by those with French-language proficiency.

The breakdown of ITAs issued across categories includes:

  • Canadian Experience Class: 34,250 ITAs
  • French-Language proficiency: 26,000 ITAs
  • Provincial Nominee Program: 3,736 ITAs
  • Trades: 3,000 ITAs
  • Healthcare and Social Services: 4,000 ITAs
  • Physicians with Canadian Work Experience: 391 ITAs
  • Senior Managers with Canadian Work Experience: 250 ITAs

Despite fewer draws this year, the larger selection sizes have contributed to a substantial number of ITAs being issued.
