Canada Wildfire Support 2025 / July 04, 2025

Canada Acts Fast To Help People Hit By 2025 Wildfires

Canada rolls out fresh support for those impacted by the 2025 wildfires.

The Government of Canada has announced new help for people affected by the 2025 wildfires. The goal is to make recovery easier and quicker for those who lost important documents or legal status during the disaster.

Free Replacement for Lost Documents
Canadian citizens and permanent residents who lost key documents in the fires can now get them replaced for free. These include:

Anyone who already paid to replace such documents after April 1, 2025, can also ask for a refund.

Help for Temporary Residents
People in Canada on a temporary basis, such as:

  • International students
  • Temporary foreign workers
  • Visitors

They can apply for new documents without any fees. This includes work permits, study permits, or extensions to stay longer in the country. If they lost their legal status due to wildfire-related delays, they don’t need to worry about the usual 90-day rule. The government has removed this deadline for wildfire victims.

Special Entry for Foreign Firefighters
Canada is welcoming emergency services workers from other countries to help fight the wildfires. From June 11, 2025, these workers won’t have to pay for applications or biometric fees to enter Canada.

Deadline to Use These Measures
These supports are only available until November 30, 2025. People are encouraged to act fast and use the time to gather documents, apply for support, and focus on their recovery.

Why These Steps Matter
Canada’s climate is warming faster than most places in the world. This means wildfires and other extreme weather events will become more common. These events put lives, homes, and jobs at risk. The government says it is committed to helping people stay safe and rebuild after disasters like these.
