Express Entry: Canada Invites 3,000 Skilled Workers In New Draw

Canada has chosen 3,000 skilled workers with local experience to apply for permanent residency in its most recent Express Entry selection.

Canada has invited 3,000 people to apply for permanent residence. These invitations were sent out under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC) through the Express Entry system. The draw took place on June 12, 2025.

Minimum Score and Deadline for Entry
To receive an invitation, candidates needed a minimum score of 529. They also had to create their Express Entry profile before 6:06 p.m. UTC on September 28, 2024. The system ranks candidates using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which gives points based on work experience, education, age, and other factors.

Fourth Express Entry Draw in June
This draw marks the fourth one in June alone. It shows a return to larger CEC draws, which were common earlier in 2024. It’s also the first CEC draw under Canada’s new Immigration Minister.

Before this, the government held smaller draws in early June. On June 10, they invited 125 people through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). On June 4, 500 people were selected from healthcare and social service fields. Another 277 were chosen on June 2 under the PNP.

Breakdown of 2025 Express Entry Draws
So far in 2025, Canada has issued 38,342 invitations to apply through the Express Entry system. These are divided across different categories:

  • PNP Draws: 10
  • CEC Draws: 5
  • French Language Draws: 3
  • Healthcare/Social Services Draws: 2
  • Education-Based Draws: 1

The Express Entry system continues to focus mostly on PNP candidates. Still, a significant number of invitations have gone to CEC applicants and people with French-language skills.

Why CEC Candidates Are Important
The Canadian Experience Class is key to Canada’s long-term immigration plan. It helps workers and students already in Canada settle permanently. Most of these candidates have already worked or studied in the country. That makes it easier for them to succeed and adjust quickly.

Studies show these applicants often do well in Canada. They know the culture, the job market, and have made personal and professional connections. Many have good education, are in their 20s to 40s, and have Canadian work experience. These factors help them do better in jobs—even sometimes better than Canadian-born workers.

Extra Benefits for CEC Applicants
CEC candidates also get bonus points in the CRS for their Canadian experience. This gives them a better chance of getting selected. Most CEC applicants receive permanent residence within six months of applying.

Another benefit? They don’t need to show proof of settlement funds, unlike other immigration streams. This makes the process quicker and easier.
