Canada welcomed 4,500 French-speaking applicants in its newest Express Entry draw, the third held this week.
Canada has invited 4,500 candidates through the Express Entry system in a new draw held this week. This selection targeted applicants with strong French-language skills.
To qualify, candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 446. They also had to submit their Express Entry profile before June 16, 2025, at 7:21 a.m. UTC.
Third Draw of the Week
This marks the third draw in just a few days. On September 2, the immigration department invited 249 candidates under the Provincial Nominee Program. The following day, on September 3, 1,000 invitations went out to Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates. Together with the latest draw, Canada has issued 5,749 invitations this week alone.
Recent Draws in 2025
This year has seen a wide mix of draws under Express Entry. The government has used category-based draws for French speakers, health care workers, and social service professionals. It has also held rounds for Canadian Experience Class candidates and Provincial Nominee Program applicants.
The largest draw so far took place on March 21. That day, 7,500 French-speaking candidates received invitations with a cut-off score of 379. Another major round happened on February 19, when 6,500 French-speaking applicants received invitations.
Focus on French Speakers
French-language draws continue to play an important role in Canada’s selection strategy. Several rounds this year focused on bilingual or French-speaking candidates. These draws support the government’s effort to strengthen French-speaking communities across the country, particularly outside Quebec.
This latest draw adds to earlier rounds, including one on August 8 where 2,500 invitations were sent with a minimum CRS of 481. On March 6, Canada also invited 4,500 candidates under the same category.
Total Invitations This Year
So far in 2025, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued 62,109 invitations through Express Entry. The system remains Canada’s main pathway for skilled immigrants.
Breakdown of draws shows that the Provincial Nominee Program remains the most frequent category this year, with 16 draws. The Canadian Experience Class has seen nine draws. French-language candidates have been selected in five draws, while health care and social service workers have had four draws. One draw targeted education professionals.
Looking Ahead
The Express Entry system continues to shift between broad draws and category-based selections. With over 62,000 invitations already issued this year, Canada shows no signs of slowing down. The mix of draws highlights both the demand for skilled workers and the government’s focus on supporting specific sectors and communities.
