IRCC invited 6,000 French-speaking candidates to apply for permanent residency through an Express Entry draw held on October 29 — the third-biggest selection of 2025.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 6,000 invitations to apply for permanent residence through the Express Entry system on October 29. The draw targeted candidates with strong French-language skills, marking the third-largest Express Entry selection of 2025.
To qualify, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 416. They also had to create their Express Entry profile before 3:27 p.m. (UTC) on September 8, 2025.
This latest round continues Canada’s effort to welcome more French-speaking immigrants outside Quebec, supporting the country’s bilingual identity.
French-language draws have seen remarkable activity this year. So far, candidates in this category have received a total of 36,000 invitations to apply — the highest among all Express Entry categories.
The largest draw of 2025 happened on March 21, when IRCC invited 7,500 French-speaking candidates. The second-largest came on February 19, with 6,500 invitations. Both were also dedicated to French-language proficiency.
The latest selection further strengthens IRCC’s goal to attract French-speaking newcomers and promote linguistic diversity under Canada’s Official Languages Act.
October has been a particularly active month for Express Entry. The French-language draw on October 29 followed three other draws:
Altogether, seven draws took place in October alone, showing IRCC’s strong push to meet its immigration targets for the year.
As of now, IRCC has issued 80,485 invitations through Express Entry. The French-language category leads with 36,000 invitations, followed by:
In total, IRCC has held 46 draws this year. Provincial Nominee Program draws account for 20 of them, Canadian Experience Class 11, and French-language proficiency 7. The remaining draws focused on specific job sectors like healthcare, education, and trades.
Canada continues to rely on immigration to address labour shortages and build communities across the country. The Express Entry system remains a major pathway for skilled workers seeking to settle permanently.
IRCC’s focus on French-speaking candidates highlights Canada’s dedication to promoting both official languages while meeting workforce needs in different provinces and territories.
With several months left in the year, more draws are expected as Canada continues to invite skilled newcomers from around the world.
