Manitoba welcomed 35 skilled workers on November 21 through its Skilled Worker Stream.
Manitoba welcomes more skilled workers this month. The province continues its push to bring in talent from within Canada and overseas. Officials use the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program to choose candidates who want to build a future in the province. The Skilled Worker Stream leads this effort and includes two main pathways. One focuses on workers already in Manitoba. The other targets skilled people overseas.
The province issued fresh invitations on November 21. Officials picked candidates through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba and Skilled Worker Overseas pathways. All selected candidates took part in a strategic recruitment effort. These efforts help Manitoba find people who meet labour needs or match long-term goals.
The program sent out 35 Letters of Advice to Apply. Officials based these on four recruitment groups. Employer Services received 18 invitations. The Francophone Community received eight. Regional Communities also received eight. One invitation went out under a temporary public policy for work permits.
Five candidates in this group held a valid Express Entry profile and a job seeker code. Officials continue to favour candidates from recruitment initiatives. Manitoba plans to settle most of these newcomers in the second half of 2025.
Some candidates meet all requirements but still do not get an invitation. Officials point to two common reasons. Some candidates claim they took an approved language test but forget to include a valid test number. Others use test results that already expired. Some people say they joined a strategic recruitment event but fail to provide the required invitation number.
Strategic recruitment initiatives help Manitoba find workers who fit the province’s priorities. These efforts target people who fill important job gaps. They also support long-term immigration plans. Skilled workers cannot apply directly for these initiatives. Instead, the province reaches out to people it identifies through missions or visits. Manitoba then issues a special Letter of Invitation. Candidates must add this letter to their profile in the program’s online system.
Recruitment missions take place overseas or within Canada. Provincial officers and local employers attend these events. They meet potential workers and share job details. They also explain how to immigrate through the provincial program. Workers interested in these missions must watch for updates. They may need to register, provide a résumé, or fill out a basic information form.
Exploratory visits let potential applicants see Manitoba up close. These visits help workers understand local life and job options. They can meet employers, explore communities, and learn about schools and housing. Officials also perform interviews during these trips. If the interview goes well, the province may issue an invitation. The invitation creates an official link to Manitoba. This link supports a future application to settle in the province.
