PEI Expands Employer List for Immigration Program

Prince Edward Island has updated its Atlantic Immigration Program by adding 20 new companies that can now hire foreign workers.

Prince Edward Island (PEI) has taken a fresh step to support its Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP). On May 15, 2025, the province added 20 new employers to its official list. This update opens more doors for foreign workers aiming for permanent residency in Canada.

What Is the Atlantic Immigration Program?

The AIP helps skilled foreign workers and international graduates move to Atlantic Canada. To apply, candidates must first get a job offer from an employer officially listed by the province. The job offer must also be approved—or endorsed—by the province.

New Employers Welcomed

PEI now has 364 designated employers. This includes 20 new ones recently added to the list. These companies belong to various industries, including healthcare, construction, farming, hospitality, and technology. Many of them match the province’s current labor needs.

Some of the newly recognized employers are:

  • The Pilot House (100367 PEI Inc.)
  • FastSigns (100542 PEI Inc.)
  • Stay Golden Customs (9892788 Canada Inc.)
  • Highfield Construction Company Ltd.
  • Blackbush Beach Resort
  • SpryPoint Services Inc.
  • Larkin Bros Inc.

These companies now have the green light to hire foreign workers under the AIP.

Employers Removed From the List

Alongside the additions, PEI removed 14 employers. These companies are no longer allowed to make job offers under this program. Some of them include:

  • Island Abbey Food Science Ltd.
  • Taco Boyz Inc.
  • Wilmac Construction Inc.
  • Whisperwood Villa Inc.

The reasons for removal were not shared. However, these updates reflect regular checks by the province to ensure the program stays fair and effective.

Current Focus on High-Demand Sectors

Due to fewer application spots in 2025, PEI now only accepts AIP applications from workers in high-demand fields. These include:

  • Healthcare
  • Construction
  • Manufacturing

If you're in a different field, you may need to explore other immigration paths like Express Entry or PEI’s own Provincial Nominee Program.

Steps to Apply Under AIP

To qualify, you must:

  • Get a job offer from a designated employer
  • Ensure the job offer gets endorsed by PEI
  • Prove you meet education and language requirements
  • Show you have work experience or relevant Canadian education
  • Provide proof of funds for settlement in Canada

After you meet all the conditions and receive the province’s endorsement, you can apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) for permanent residency.

Special Work Permit Option

AIP applicants can also apply for a two-year work permit. This lets you move to Canada faster and start working sooner. To apply for this, your employer must first get a referral letter from PEI. You’ll need to include that letter in your work permit application.

Important Note

Even though an employer appears on PEI’s designated list, it doesn’t mean they are hiring right now. You must check directly with each employer about job openings.
