PEI immigration draw October 2025 inviting 160 skilled workers through PNP
Prince Edward Island (PEI) carried out its latest Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw last week, bringing new hope to many aspiring immigrants. The province invited 160 skilled candidates through its Labour Impact and Express Entry streams on October 17, 2025.
This marked PEI’s second-largest draw of the year, only six invitations behind the biggest one. The province focused on applicants already living and working in PEI, especially in occupations that support its growing economy.
The latest draw mainly targeted individuals employed in high-demand industries such as healthcare, trades, and manufacturing. PEI continues to strengthen its local workforce by prioritizing candidates already contributing to these key sectors.
International student graduates from the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI), Holland College, and Collège de l’Île also received special attention. The province recognizes the value these graduates bring after completing their education locally and gaining Canadian work experience.
Officials explained that due to limited nomination spaces and increasing applications, PEI must carefully select candidates who best match its labour needs. This approach helps fill shortages while ensuring long-term community and economic benefits.
This draw was the tenth one PEI conducted in 2025. By October 26, the province had issued a total of 1,081 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) this year through its PNP. Most of these invitations came from the Labour Impact and Express Entry categories, with one draw earlier including a Business Impact applicant.
The steady number of draws shows the province’s ongoing effort to attract and retain skilled professionals who can support its economic growth and address workforce gaps.
To be considered for nomination, foreign nationals must first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the province. This profile includes personal and professional details such as education, work experience, and language ability in English or French.
Once submitted, candidates enter a pool where they are ranked based on various factors. Those with higher rankings and skills matching PEI’s needs have better chances of receiving an invitation. Candidates can also update their profiles if their situation changes.
If selected, candidates receive an official invitation to apply for provincial nomination, bringing them one step closer to Canadian permanent residency.
The Office of Immigration emphasized that PEI is currently prioritizing skilled workers in essential industries. However, those working mainly in the sales and service sectors may not receive invitations at this time.
This focus reflects PEI’s goal of balancing population growth with strong, stable employment. By welcoming individuals with the right skills, the province aims to meet local demands while supporting community development.
