Express Entry: Canada Invites 500 Healthcare & Social Workers In New PR Draw

Canada invited 500 people working in healthcare and social services on June 4 through its Express Entry system, offering them a chance to apply for permanent residency.

Canada’s immigration department invited 500 people to apply for permanent residence on June 4. This draw focused on workers in healthcare and social services jobs.

The invitations came through the Express Entry system. This was the second draw of its kind this year for this specific group.

Who Qualified for the Draw

To get selected, candidates had to:

  • Score at least 504 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
  • Create their Express Entry profile before 6:47 a.m. (UTC) on March 31, 2025.

Only those who met both conditions received invitations.

What Is Express Entry

Express Entry is a system that Canada uses to invite skilled workers for permanent residence. It includes different programs like the Canadian Experience Class and Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Some draws also focus on people with strong French skills or those working in key job sectors.

Recent Draw Highlights

This June 4 draw is the second of the month. Earlier, on June 2, Canada held a draw for PNP applicants, inviting 277 people with high CRS scores. In May, Canada held several other draws:

  • May 13: 500 invites for Canadian Experience Class applicants (CRS 547).
  • May 12: 511 invites for PNP (CRS 706).
  • May 2: 500 invites for healthcare and social service workers (CRS 510).
  • May 1: 1,000 invites for people in education jobs (CRS 479).

Other draws this year have focused on French-speaking candidates and those with Canadian work experience.

Express Entry Trends in 2025

So far in 2025, Canada has issued 35,217 invitations through Express Entry.

Here’s the number of draws by category:

  • PNP Draws: 9
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC): 4
  • French-Language Proficiency: 3
  • Healthcare & Social Services: 2
  • Education Jobs: 1

This shows a strong focus on PNP and candidates with Canadian work experience. However, sector-based draws like healthcare are also increasing.

Application Process and Timelines

Once someone receives an invitation, they have 60 days to submit their full application for permanent residence. The government usually takes up to six months to process a completed application.

Candidates must make sure their Express Entry profile stays active. A profile stays valid for one year. If someone doesn’t receive an invitation within that time, they can submit a new profile. The new submission gets a fresh timestamp and may affect selection based on Canada’s tie-breaking rule.
