Canada Boosts Worker Benefit Payments Starting July 2025

From July 2025, low-income workers and families in Canada will receive more support through a higher Canada Workers Benefit to help them cope with everyday expenses.

Starting July 2025, the Canada Workers Benefit (CWB) will increase to give more financial help to low-income workers and families. This change will help people handle the rising costs of living. Payments will come in four parts each year, with the first one arriving on July 12, 2025.

What is the Canada Workers Benefit?
The CWB is a tax credit that gives money back to workers who earn less. It has two parts: a basic amount for general support and a disability supplement for people with approved disabilities. The benefit helps those who work but still struggle to cover their expenses.

How Much Will You Get in 2025?
For single workers, the maximum payment can be $1,633 if their income is under $26,855. Families can get up to $2,813 if their total income is below $30,639. People who qualify for the disability supplement can get up to $843 more, depending on their income. The payments reduce as income rises and stop after certain limits—$37,474 for singles and $49,391 for families. The disability supplement phases out slightly higher.

If you live in provinces like Alberta, Quebec, or Nunavut, your payments may differ due to local rules.

Who Can Get This Benefit?
To qualify for the basic amount, you must:

  • Live in Canada all year.
  • Be 19 or older by December 31, 2024, or live with a spouse or child.
  • Earn at least $3,000 from working in 2024.

To claim the disability supplement, you need:

Some people cannot get the CWB, such as full-time students for more than 13 weeks (unless they have dependents), people in jail for over 90 days, and diplomats or their families who don’t pay taxes.

How to Get the Canada Workers Benefit
You claim the CWB when you file your taxes. Just fill out Schedule 6 with your tax return or use tax software. If you qualify for the disability supplement, include it in your return too. No separate application is needed for advance payments—they happen automatically based on your tax info.

Make sure to file your 2024 taxes on time to get the July payment.

When Will Payments Arrive?
The Canada Workers Benefit payments will be sent on these dates:

  • July 12, 2025
  • October 11, 2025
  • January 10, 2026

If these dates fall on a weekend or holiday, expect your payment the business day before.

What if You Don’t Get Your Payment?
If your payment does not arrive, check if you meet all the rules, like income and residency. Wait 10 business days after the payment date, as processing can take time. If it still doesn’t come, contact the CRA for help.

Why This Matters
With prices going up everywhere, the higher Canada Workers Benefit will give real help to many people. Whether it’s paying for groceries, rent, or other needs, this money can ease the financial stress for thousands of Canadian workers and families.

Keep in Mind
To get the most from this program, file your taxes early, keep your CRA profile updated, and check your eligibility. This benefit is a strong support for those who need it most.
