Canada Invites Thousands In CEC Draw With Lowest Score Since September 2024

On July 8, Canada invited 3,000 people with Canadian work experience to apply for permanent residency through its Express Entry system. The minimum score required to receive an invitation was 518, which marks the lowest score for this category since September 2024.

Canada has invited 3,000 skilled workers to apply for permanent residency in its latest Express Entry draw. The draw took place on July 8 and focused on Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates.

This was the lowest cut-off score for a CEC draw since September 2024, making it an important moment for many hopeful applicants.

Minimum Score and Eligibility

To receive an invitation, candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 518. They also had to submit their Express Entry profile before 1:48 a.m. UTC on October 2, 2024.

This draw gave many experienced workers in Canada a strong chance to move one step closer to permanent residency.

Recent Draw Highlights

This was the second Express Entry draw in July. Just a day earlier, on July 7, 356 people received invitations through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) with a much higher score requirement of 750.

Other recent draws also showed a clear pattern:

  • June 26 – 3,000 ITAs (CEC) – Score: 521
  • June 23 – 503 ITAs (PNP) – Score: 742
  • June 12 – 3,000 ITAs (CEC) – Score: 529
  • June 10 – 125 ITAs (PNP) – Score: 784

This back-and-forth trend between CEC and PNP draws has continued for several weeks.

Total Invitations in 2025

So far in 2025, Canada has issued 45,201 total invitations through Express Entry. This includes candidates from various programs and priority groups.

Breakdown of draws this year:

  • PNP draws – 12
  • CEC draws – 7
  • French-language draws – 3
  • Healthcare and social services draws – 2
  • Education draw – 1

These numbers show that Canada remains committed to bringing in skilled workers, especially those already working or studying in the country.

Who Benefits from CEC Draws?

The Canadian Experience Class targets workers who already live and work in Canada. Most of them hold temporary work permits or have studied in the country. Many are employed in sectors that are currently facing labor shortages.

Lower score requirements in CEC draws help these candidates settle faster, boosting Canada’s workforce with experienced professionals.

What’s Next?

If the current pattern continues, another PNP draw may take place soon. Immigration watchers expect more draws every two weeks. Candidates are advised to keep their profiles up to date and stay alert for changes in cut-off scores.

With CEC draws getting more accessible, many skilled workers may now feel closer to their permanent residency dream.
