Express Entry: IRCC Issues 1,000 Invitations In New CEC Draw

IRCC held an Express Entry draw on September 3, inviting 1,000 candidates under the Canadian Experience Class.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 1,000 candidates in the latest Express Entry draw held on September 3. The draw targeted Canadian Experience Class (CEC) candidates. To qualify, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 534. They also had to create their Express Entry profile before 8:28 a.m. UTC on August 14, 2025.

How Express Entry Works
The Express Entry system manages applications for skilled workers who want to settle in Canada. Candidates receive a CRS score based on factors such as age, education, language ability, and work experience. IRCC conducts regular draws, inviting top-scoring candidates to apply for permanent residence.

Recent Trends in 2025
This latest draw marks the second one in September. On September 2, IRCC invited 249 candidates through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) with a minimum CRS score of 772. In August, draws included 2,500 invitations for healthcare and social services workers with scores of at least 470, 1,000 CEC candidates with a 534 cut-off, and 2,500 invitations for French-speaking candidates with a 481 cut-off.

July saw large-scale draws, including 4,000 invitations for healthcare workers and 3,000 for CEC candidates. Earlier in the year, IRCC held several category-based selections for French speakers and healthcare professionals, alongside frequent PNP draws.

Numbers So Far This Year
So far in 2025, IRCC has issued 57,069 invitations across various categories. PNP draws remain the most frequent, with 16 held this year. CEC candidates have seen nine draws. IRCC also invited candidates in four draws for healthcare and social services, four draws for French-language proficiency, and one draw focused on education.

What This Means for Candidates
The September 3 draw shows ongoing opportunities for applicants with Canadian work experience. Candidates with high CRS scores and recent profiles continue to have a strong chance of receiving invitations. As Express Entry draws remain competitive, candidates may improve their profiles by gaining work experience, enhancing language skills, or securing a provincial nomination.

Looking Ahead
IRCC is expected to continue holding frequent category-based draws. These will likely focus on healthcare, French speakers, and CEC applicants. With over 57,000 invitations already issued in 2025, many candidates are now preparing applications for permanent residence. The latest draw underlines Canada’s demand for skilled workers who have proven Canadian work experience.
