Ontario welcomed 1,893 new applicants to its Provincial Nominee Program on September 3.
Ontario opened two fresh rounds of its Provincial Nominee Program on September 3. The province invited 1,893 candidates who already live in Canada. All candidates had valid job offers in 77 selected occupations.
Details of the Draws
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) held two separate draws. The Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker Stream sent out 1,134 invitations. The lowest score accepted was 42. The Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream issued 759 invitations. The lowest score accepted in this stream was 63.
These draws only looked at profiles created between July 2 and September 3. Candidates had to meet the score requirement and hold a job offer in one of the eligible occupations.
Who Received Invitations
Ontario invited workers across a wide list of jobs. These included human resources managers, pharmacists, psychologists, engineers, architects, computer engineers, and medical technologists. Many health care professionals received invitations, such as physiotherapists, dental hygienists, and massage therapists. Candidates in construction, administration, and creative roles such as editors, journalists, and film technicians also qualified.
In total, the list covered 77 National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes. The wide range of occupations shows Ontario’s focus on filling labour market needs in both health care and other priority sectors.
Next Steps for Candidates
Those who received invitations must now submit complete applications to the OINP. If Ontario approves them, candidates will receive a provincial nomination. With that nomination, they can apply to the federal government for permanent residence.
Recent Activity in Ontario PNP
The September 3 draws came just one day after another round. On September 2, Ontario invited 2,643 candidates in three separate draws. Those invitations targeted health care occupations. Together, the province invited 4,536 candidates in the first week of September.
Ontario’s annual allocation for 2025 is 10,750 nominations. This number is down from 21,500 in 2024. With thousands of invitations already issued, the province continues to work steadily toward this year’s target.
Changes in Application Process
Earlier this summer, Ontario introduced changes to how employers and candidates apply. On July 2, the province launched a new online employer portal. Employers now start the process by submitting job offers directly to the OINP. Candidates then register an Expression of Interest after the employer submission.
Only candidates whose employers used the new portal qualified for the September 3 draws. Those with older profiles must ask their employers to resubmit through the portal if they wish to be considered in future rounds.
