British Columbia Invites 10 Entrepreneurs in Latest PNP Draw

British Columbia issued 10 invitations to entrepreneurs in a provincial immigration draw held July 28, 2026.

The invitations went to candidates in the Base Stream of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program’s Entrepreneur Immigration category. A minimum score of 117 was required.

Selected candidates can now apply for provincial nomination, which may support a future application for Canadian permanent residence.

Eighth Entrepreneur Round of 2026

The draw marked British Columbia’s eighth Entrepreneur Immigration selection round this year. It was also one of only three 2026 draws that invited Base Stream candidates exclusively.

The province has held 13 entrepreneur-focused selections in total, including eight Base Stream rounds and five Regional Stream rounds.

At least 88 Entrepreneur Immigration invitations have been issued in 2026. Including Skills Immigration selections, British Columbia has distributed at least 3,824 invitations to apply for provincial nomination this year.

The July 28 draw followed a targeted Skills Immigration selection that issued the first invitations under the new Temporary Rural and Remote Health Support Initiative for health authority cleaners and security personnel.

Scores Stay Within Recent Range

Base Stream cutoff scores have ranged from 115 to 121 this year.

Before the latest draw, British Columbia invited 14 Base candidates at 118 on June 30 and 15 at 117 on June 2. It issued eight invitations at 115 on May 5, 14 at 115 on April 14, seven at 117 on March 10, 13 at 121 on February 10, and seven at 115 on January 13.

Regional draws issued fewer than five invitations on June 30, June 2, May 5, March 10 and February 10. Their minimum scores ranged from 105 to 129.

Two Streams for Entrepreneurs

The Base Stream is for entrepreneurs starting a business or buying and expanding an existing company. Applicants generally need a minimum personal net worth of $600,000, an investment of at least $200,000 and ownership of at least 31.33 per cent.

The Regional Stream supports new businesses outside the Metro Vancouver Regional District. It requires a minimum net worth of $300,000, an investment of $100,000 and ownership of at least 51 per cent.

Both streams require Canadian Language Benchmark 4 and normally a post-secondary credential. Applicants without one may qualify by proving full ownership and active management of a business for at least three of the previous five years.

Base applicants need three years of owner-manager experience in the past 10 years. Regional applicants need three years in the past five years, an exploratory visit and a referral from a participating community.

The minimum registration score is 115 out of 200 for the Base Stream and 105 for the Regional Stream. Base candidates may register with a co-applicant, while Regional candidates may not.

Path to Permanent Residence

Candidates prepare a business proposal, register with the BCPNP and wait for an invitation. Invited candidates have four months to submit a complete nomination application.

Approved applicants may seek a federal work permit, establish and actively operate their business in British Columbia, and receive nomination after meeting program conditions. They can then apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for permanent residence.
