New seasonal schedules will affect land border crossings in Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba from November 1, 2026.

Canada will introduce revised operating hours at 26 land border crossings in three western provinces beginning November 1, 2026.

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced the changes on October 9, confirming that the adjustments will remain in effect until March 14, 2027.

Four crossings in Alberta, nine in British Columbia, and 13 in Manitoba will follow the seasonal schedules.

The changes aim to coordinate Canadian border services with neighbouring American crossings.

Why Are Border Crossing Hours Changing?

Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba have adopted permanent daylight saving time, while neighbouring American states continue changing their clocks seasonally.

This difference creates challenges when coordinating border operations between the two countries.

The CBSA will therefore adjust opening and closing times during the American fall and spring clock changes.

The agency says matching operating hours will improve coordination between border officials and provide greater clarity for travellers.

Alberta: Four Border Crossings Affected

Four Alberta crossings will introduce revised schedules beginning at 2 a.m. Mountain Time on November 1.

Aden and Del Bonita will operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., while Carway will remain open from 8 a.m. until midnight.

Wild Horse will accept regular travellers between 9 a.m. and 10 p.m., with commercial traffic permitted until 6 p.m.

Commercial services at Aden, Del Bonita, and Wild Horse will operate Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.

British Columbia: Nine Crossings Get New Hours

British Columbia will adjust services at Aldergrove, Carson, Cascade, Chopaka, Fraser, Midway, Nelway, Pleasant Camp, and Waneta.

Aldergrove, Fraser, and Pleasant Camp will operate between 9 a.m. and 1 a.m.

Carson and Cascade will welcome regular travellers from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., while Chopaka, Midway, and Waneta will operate from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Nelway will remain open for regular travellers until 7 p.m.

Several locations will maintain shorter weekday schedules for commercial traffic.

Manitoba: Thirteen Locations Introduce Seasonal Schedules

Manitoba will implement revised hours at Cartwright, Coulter, Crystal City, Goodlands, Gretna, Lena, Lyleton, Piney, Snowflake, South Junction, Tolstoi, Windygates, and Winkler.

Operating hours will vary by location.

Cartwright, Coulter, and Lena will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., while Lyleton will remain open until 11 p.m. for regular travellers.

Winkler and South Junction will accept regular travellers until 9 p.m.

Commercial crossings will generally remain limited to weekdays, excluding holidays.

What Travellers Should Know

The revised schedules will begin at 2 a.m. in each province's respective time zone.

Regular travellers can use the affected crossings seven days a week during their designated hours, while commercial vehicles face additional restrictions at several locations.

Travellers arriving after closing time should consider another available crossing.

The CBSA recommends checking operating hours before departure to avoid unnecessary delays.

Emergency services will continue coordinating across the border when necessary.
