If the government determines that you failed to meet residency requirements, you will receive a decision letter. You do have the right to appeal within 60 days. If you believe there were humanitarian reasons for your absence, such as caring for a sick family member, you may be able to present your case. If you lose your PR status, you would have to reapply for immigration if you still want to live in Canada.
