Express Entry: IRCC Invites 4,000+ Candidates in Canada’s Latest Draw

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) invited 4,500 candidates to apply for permanent residence through the Express Entry system in its latest draw. This round focused on French-speaking candidates, continuing a strong trend in category-based draws for 2025.

To qualify, applicants needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 432. They also had to submit their Express Entry profile before 7:07 p.m. UTC on June 13, 2025.

This latest draw marks one of the largest in recent months and highlights the government’s continued effort to attract French-speaking newcomers outside Quebec.

Growing Focus on Francophone Immigration

French-speaking candidates have been at the forefront of Canada’s immigration goals this year. So far in 2025, IRCC has issued a total of 30,000 invitations to candidates with French-language skills.

The largest draw this year also targeted French speakers, when 7,500 invitations were sent out on March 21. These ongoing efforts reflect the government’s goal to strengthen Francophone communities across Canada.

Officials expect the targets for Francophone immigration outside Quebec to rise next year. This likely means even more French-language draws under the Express Entry system.

Overview of Recent Draws

This new draw on October 6 follows several others held in recent weeks. On October 1, IRCC invited 1,000 candidates through the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). A few days earlier, on September 29, 291 candidates received invitations through the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The department also held a draw for skilled trades on September 18, issuing 1,250 invitations.

The October 6 draw stands out as the second of the month and the largest since September 4, when IRCC held another 4,500-invitation round for French-speaking candidates.

Express Entry Trends in 2025

Throughout 2025, IRCC has issued 70,338 invitations to apply through Express Entry. The draws have focused mainly on Provincial Nominee Program candidates, followed by the Canadian Experience Class and French-language proficiency draws.

So far this year, IRCC has held 18 PNP draws, 10 CEC draws, six French-language proficiency draws, four healthcare and social services draws, two education draws, and one trade draw.

French-speaking and Canadian Experience Class candidates have received the most invitations. This trend shows Canada’s ongoing commitment to welcoming skilled workers who can help meet labour shortages and strengthen bilingualism across the country.
