Canada's latest Express Entry figures show shifts in candidate rankings as new immigration rules approach.
Canada has released an updated breakdown of Express Entry candidate scores, showing 229,456 profiles in the immigration pool as of October 12, 2026.
The figures, published by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), provide a clearer picture of competition for permanent residence.
Compared with September 27, when the pool contained 229,904 candidates, the total decreased by 448 profiles.
The latest figures show noticeable changes across several Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score ranges.
The largest group remains candidates scoring between 351 and 400, with 47,167 profiles, representing 20.56% of the pool.
Another 21,638 candidates have scores between 501 and 600, while 749 candidates score above 600.
The number of candidates scoring between 501 and 600 increased by 568 compared with September 27.
Meanwhile, the 471–500 range declined by 1,487 profiles.
These changes illustrate how competition shifts as candidates enter the pool, receive invitations or update their profiles.
Candidates with scores above 500 represent approximately 9.76% of the pool.
Those scoring between 481 and 490 account for 5.31%, while candidates in the 491–500 range represent 5.29%.
A candidate's percentile indicates the proportion of profiles scoring at or below a particular threshold.
However, CRS rankings alone cannot determine invitation chances. Immigration authorities also consider eligibility requirements and the category selected for each draw.
Between September 27 and October 12, IRCC conducted three invitation rounds, issuing 6,233 invitations to apply (ITAs).
These included 733 invitations for Provincial Nominee Program candidates on September 28, followed by 2,000 Canadian Experience Class invitations on September 29.
On October 1, Canada invited 3,500 trades candidates with a minimum CRS score of 476.
Three additional draws took place after October 12.
On October 13, IRCC issued 752 provincial nominee invitations. Another 2,500 Canadian Experience Class candidates received invitations on October 15.
A French-language proficiency draw on October 16 issued 5,000 invitations, with a minimum score of 435.
Together, these later rounds issued 8,252 invitations, bringing the reported 2026 total to 143,467.
Canada will introduce additional Express Entry points for eligible high-wage occupations beginning November 3, 2026.
Candidates with qualifying job offers may receive 50, 70 or 100 CRS points, depending on their occupation's wage category.
Those with at least 12 months of eligible Canadian work experience may qualify for 20, 40 or 70 additional points.
Candidates qualifying through both routes will receive the higher applicable score rather than combining them.
The government will also remove certain Labour Market Impact Assessment requirements for qualifying job offers.
IRCC will temporarily suspend Express Entry draws while recalculating candidate scores, a process expected to take up to two weeks.
Existing profiles with qualifying Canadian work experience will receive updated points automatically.
Candidates seeking points for eligible job offers must update their profiles with the required details before November 3.
