Newfoundland and Labrador issued 57 invitations, with AIP candidates receiving the largest share.
Newfoundland and Labrador invited 57 immigration candidates in its latest provincial selection round on July 10.
The invitations were issued through two pathways: the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program and the Atlantic Immigration Program. The draw was the province’s eighth immigration selection round of 2026 and marked its smallest invitation round so far this year.
Of the 57 invitations issued, 17 went to candidates under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program, also known as the NLPNP.
The remaining 40 invitations went to candidates under the Atlantic Immigration Program, or AIP.
This means AIP candidates received 70.2 per cent of all invitations in the July 10 draw. It was the first Newfoundland and Labrador draw since September 2025 in which AIP candidates received more invitations than NLPNP candidates.
The province did not provide a stream-specific or sector-specific breakdown for the NLPNP invitations.
Newfoundland and Labrador has now invited 1,544 provincial immigration candidates in 2026.
Most of these invitations have gone to NLPNP candidates. According to the available figures, NLPNP candidates have received 81.8 per cent of all invitations issued by the province this year.
The July 10 draw also continued a general downward trend in invitation numbers. Apart from the June 10 selection round, each draw in 2026 has seen fewer invitations than the previous one.
The province issued 445 invitations on March 6, followed by 245 on March 30, 210 on April 13, 190 on May 1, 186 on May 11, 103 on May 28, and 108 on June 10. The latest draw, with 57 invitations, set a new low for the year.
Candidates who want to be considered under the NLPNP or Newfoundland and Labrador’s AIP must first submit an online Expression of Interest through the province’s Immigration Accelerator Portal.
In most cases, candidates need a valid job offer from an employer in Newfoundland and Labrador before submitting a profile. The main exception is for the entrepreneur streams under the NLPNP.
Through the Expression of Interest system, candidates provide details about their work experience, education, language ability, and plans to settle in the province. Their profile is then entered into the province’s candidate pool.
The province may give priority to candidates based on several factors. These can include work in healthcare, sales and service, rural employment, jobs outside major urban centres, underrepresented occupations, local education, and strong long-term settlement prospects.
Newfoundland and Labrador periodically selects top-ranking candidates from the pool.
Once selected, candidates have 60 days to submit a complete application. NLPNP applications are submitted by the candidate, while AIP applications must be submitted by the employer.
Successful NLPNP applicants receive a provincial nomination certificate. Successful AIP applicants receive an endorsement certificate.
After that, candidates can apply to the federal government for permanent residence. If approved, they receive Confirmation of Permanent Residence.
Current federal processing times listed as of July 7 are 12 months for base PNP applications, seven months for enhanced PNP applications, and 26 months for AIP applications.
Candidates who do not receive an invitation after having an active Expression of Interest for 12 months must submit a new profile. For AIP candidates, the employer must re-submit the profile.
