Canada has issued 562 permanent residence invitations to provincial nominees in its latest Express Entry draw.
Canada has invited 562 Express Entry candidates with provincial nominations to apply for permanent residence, with the latest draw setting the lowest Provincial Nominee Program cut-off score recorded so far in 2026.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued the invitations on August 31 through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw.
Candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 697 to receive an invitation. They also had to create their Express Entry profile before 4:32 a.m. UTC on April 12, 2026.
The latest cut-off was 63 points lower than the previous PNP draw, held on August 17. That draw issued 442 invitations to candidates with a CRS score of at least 760.
The August 31 selection was the 50th Express Entry draw conducted by IRCC in 2026.
The 697 CRS cut-off marks the lowest score recorded in a PNP-specific Express Entry draw this year.
PNP candidates receive additional CRS points after receiving a provincial or territorial nomination. This can significantly increase their ranking in the Express Entry pool and improve their chances of receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residence.
The latest draw continues a broader 2026 trend in which IRCC has frequently selected candidates who already have a connection to Canada. This includes provincial nominees and people with experience in the Canadian labour market.
IRCC has held 50 Express Entry draws so far this year, covering several candidate groups.
PNP draws have been the most frequent, with 17 rounds. The Canadian Experience Class has had 14 draws, while French-language proficiency candidates have been selected in 10 rounds.
IRCC has also held draws for healthcare and social services workers, physicians with Canadian work experience, senior managers with Canadian work experience, trades workers, transport workers and skilled military recruits.
The August 31 PNP draw followed several other selections in August. On August 19, IRCC invited 5,000 French-language candidates at a CRS cut-off of 382. The department invited 1,000 Canadian Experience Class candidates the previous day at a cut-off of 523.
Across all Express Entry categories, IRCC has issued 115,427 invitations to apply for permanent residence in 2026.
French-language proficiency candidates have received the largest share, with 50,500 invitations. The Canadian Experience Class follows with 49,250.
PNP candidates have received 7,961 invitations so far this year. Healthcare and social services workers have received 8,000, while trades candidates have received 3,000.
Other categories include 662 invitations for physicians with Canadian work experience, 750 for senior managers, 300 for transport workers and four for skilled military recruits.
The latest draw gives provincial nominees another indication of the changing CRS requirements within Express Entry. While the score remains high, the 697 cut-off is the lowest PNP threshold recorded by IRCC in 2026.
