Canada releases the latest Express Entry pool data, showing score changes and candidate trends.
Canada’s immigration department has released updated data showing changes in the Express Entry candidate pool between August 16 and August 30. While the overall pool decreased slightly by 186 profiles, the number of candidates with higher Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores increased during the two-week period.
The latest figures show that the number of top-scoring profiles grew from 19,096 to 20,101, mainly because more candidates entered the 501–600 CRS score range.
According to the updated breakdown, the Express Entry pool had 226,673 candidates on August 30, compared with 226,859 candidates on August 16.
The biggest change appeared in the 351–400 CRS score range, which dropped by 1,776 candidates, falling from 48,600 to 46,824 profiles. Meanwhile, several higher score categories recorded increases.
The 501–600 score range saw the largest increase among higher-scoring groups, rising by 885 candidates to reach 19,542 profiles. The 601–1,200 range also increased by 120 candidates, reaching 559 profiles.
Other score ranges showed smaller movements, with some categories gaining candidates while others declined slightly. These changes reflect ongoing movement within Canada’s immigration system as candidates enter, update, or leave the Express Entry pool.
The updated figures also highlight how competitive different CRS score ranges remain. Candidates with scores between 351 and 400 represent the largest group, accounting for 20.66% of the pool.
Candidates in the 501–600 CRS range represent 8.62% of the pool, while those scoring above 600 points make up only 0.25% of candidates.
The percentile breakdown shows where candidates stand compared with others in the pool. For example, candidates in the 501–600 range are among the highest-ranked applicants, with their scores placing them near the top of the Express Entry system.
The August 30 snapshot does not include two Express Entry draws held afterward on August 31 and September 1. These draws issued a combined 2,562 invitations to apply for permanent residence.
The August 31 Provincial Nominee Program draw issued 562 invitations, with the lowest-ranked candidate having a CRS score of 697. The September 1 Canadian Experience Class draw issued 2,000 invitations, with a minimum CRS score of 521.
After including these draws, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued 117,427 invitations through Express Entry in 2026. Canadian Experience Class candidates received the largest share of invitations this year, accounting for 43.6%.
Between August 16 and August 30, IRCC held three Express Entry draws and issued a combined 6,442 invitations for permanent residence. These included Provincial Nominee Program, Canadian Experience Class, and French-language proficiency draws.
The August 18 Canadian Experience Class draw recorded the highest cutoff score of any CEC draw held in 2026. Despite thousands of invitations being issued, the overall Express Entry pool only declined by 186 profiles during the period.
Express Entry is Canada’s main application management system for selecting skilled workers seeking permanent residence outside Quebec. Eligible candidates enter the pool through one of three programs: the Canadian Experience Class, the Federal Skilled Worker Program, or the Federal Skilled Trades Program.
Candidates receive CRS points based on factors such as age, education, language ability, and work experience. IRCC regularly conducts invitation rounds and may also use category-based selection to prioritize candidates with specific skills or backgrounds.
Current Express Entry categories include French-language ability and occupation-based groups such as healthcare, education, transport, and trades. Recent draws have shown different cutoff levels depending on the category selected.
Candidates who receive an invitation have 60 days to submit a complete permanent residence application. Express Entry applications have historically been processed in about six months.
