British Columbia issued at least 27 provincial nomination invitations across two immigration draws held in October 2026.
British Columbia invited at least 27 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination through two draws held between October 15 and 20, 2026.
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) selected eligible cleaning and security workers employed by public health authorities in remote communities, along with entrepreneurs planning to establish or expand businesses.
Successful applicants may receive a provincial nomination and then apply to the federal government for permanent residence. Eligible applicants already in Canada may also seek a bridging open work permit after submitting their permanent residence application.
On October 15, British Columbia invited 16 candidates through its Temporary Rural/Remote Health Support Initiative (TRHSI). The minimum selection score was 54.
On October 20, the province issued 10 invitations through the Entrepreneur Immigration Base Stream and fewer than five through the Regional Stream. Both streams required a score of at least 118.
The October 15 selection was the smallest of three TRHSI draws held so far.
As of October 20, British Columbia had issued at least 6,317 Skills Immigration invitations in 2026, including 109 through TRHSI. It had also issued at least 131 entrepreneur invitations, mostly through the Base Stream. The province conducted 17 Skills Immigration draws and 11 entrepreneur selection rounds.
The temporary initiative supports workers holding regular, permanent, full-time positions with eligible public health authorities in rural or remote British Columbia.
Eligible occupations include janitors, caretakers and heavy-duty cleaners (NOC 65312), light-duty cleaners (NOC 65310), and security guards and related workers (NOC 64410).
Applicants need at least nine continuous months of full-time employment in an eligible occupation with the same employer and within the same region.
Jobs in Central Okanagan, Metro Vancouver and the Capital Regional District generally do not qualify. However, the Capital Regional District exclusion does not cover Galiano, Mayne, Pender, Salt Spring or Saturna islands.
British Columbia announced the initiative in April 2026 and officially launched it in mid-June. The province plans to nominate up to 250 workers. Registrations closed on October 7, and officials have not disclosed how many nominations they have approved.
The Base Stream allows entrepreneurs to establish a business or purchase and expand an existing one. Applicants need a minimum personal net worth of $600,000, an investment of $200,000 and at least 33.33 per cent ownership.
The Regional Stream supports new businesses outside Metro Vancouver. It requires $300,000 in personal net worth, a $100,000 investment and 51 per cent ownership. Applicants also need a community referral and an exploratory visit.
Both streams require language proficiency at Canadian Language Benchmark level four. Base applicants need three years of owner-manager experience within 10 years; Regional applicants need three within five.
Both normally require post-secondary education, with an exception for applicants who fully owned and actively managed a business for three of the previous five years. Minimum registration scores are 115 and 105 respectively. Only the Base Stream permits a co-applicant.
An invitation starts the application process; it does not guarantee nomination.
