Alberta Invites 722 Workers Through AAIP Draws

Alberta has invited 722 workers with job offers in the province to apply for provincial nomination through three immigration draws held between September 1 and 9, 2026.

The invitations were issued under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program, or AAIP, and included candidates in the Alberta Opportunity Stream, the Accelerated Tech Pathway and the Dedicated Health Care Pathway.

Three draws held in early September

The largest draw took place on September 1, when Alberta invited 575 candidates through the Alberta Opportunity Stream. The minimum score for that draw was 56.

On September 3, the province issued 96 invitations through the Alberta Express Entry Stream’s Accelerated Tech Pathway. Candidates needed a minimum score of 60.

A third draw followed on September 9 under the Dedicated Health Care Pathway linked to Express Entry. Alberta invited 51 candidates in that round, also with a minimum score of 60.

In total, the province issued 722 invitations over the three draws. Of those, 96 went to tech workers and 51 went to healthcare workers.

The 147 occupation-specific invitations were split between tech and healthcare, while the remaining 575 went to Alberta Opportunity Stream candidates. All 722 workers invited in these draws had job offers in Alberta, according to the report.

What invited candidates can do next

Candidates who received invitations can now apply to Alberta for provincial nomination. If Alberta approves their nomination, they can then apply to the federal government for permanent residence.

Applicants living in Canada may also have access to a bridging open work permit while their permanent residence application is being processed.

A federal temporary measure for certain base Provincial Nominee Program applicants can also make this process easier. Since June 9, 2026, Alberta Opportunity Stream nominees may be able to apply for a bridging open work permit before receiving an Acknowledgement of Receipt for their permanent residence application.

Alberta’s worker pools remain large

As of September 9, Alberta reported 22,381 active worker profiles in the Alberta Opportunity Stream, with 8,183 invitations issued in 2026.

The Rural Renewal Stream had 1,750 active profiles and 1,043 invitations issued. The Tourism and Hospitality Stream had 3,372 active profiles and 227 invitations.

The Dedicated Health Care Pathways had 1,302 active profiles and 895 invitations, while the Accelerated Tech Pathway had 2,039 active profiles and 1,366 invitations.

Alberta also reported 46 active profiles in the Law Enforcement Pathway, with fewer than 40 invitations issued. Priority sector draws and initiatives had 5,067 active profiles and more than 1,821 invitations.

Province continues targeting priority sectors

The September 3 and September 9 draws match Alberta’s stated immigration priorities for 2026. Along with technology and healthcare, the province is also focusing on construction, aviation, agriculture and manufacturing.

As of the time of the original report, the AAIP had held 74 draws in 2026. Alberta continues to use targeted pathways and occupation-focused selection to invite workers who meet labour market needs and already have links to employment in the province.
