Newfoundland and Labrador issued 205 invitations through two provincial immigration programs, offering selected candidates a pathway towards Canadian permanent residence.

Newfoundland and Labrador has invited 205 candidates through two provincial immigration selection rounds held on October 23 and 29, 2026, according to the figures provided in the latest draw report.

Of the invitations issued, 195 went to candidates under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP), while 10 were issued through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

Selected candidates have 60 days to submit their applications for provincial nomination or endorsement.

Latest Immigration Draw Results

The October 23 draw issued 120 invitations through the NLPNP, with no AIP invitations reported.

The October 29 selection round invited another 85 candidates, including 75 under the NLPNP and 10 through the AIP.

Together, the two rounds issued approximately 95% of their invitations through the provincial nominee program.

The provincial government did not identify which NLPNP streams received invitations or disclose the occupations and industries of selected applicants.

Immigration Invitations Continue in 2026

Newfoundland and Labrador has conducted 20 immigration selection rounds in 2026, including 15 that issued invitations through both programs.

The latest figures suggest continued demand for candidates who can help meet the province's workforce needs.

AIP invitations also increased in the October 29 round. The 10 invitations represented the highest number issued through the program in a single round since August 26.

Earlier selections included 130 NLPNP invitations and one AIP invitation on October 16, followed by 125 NLPNP invitations and one AIP invitation on October 9.

How Candidates Can Apply

Foreign nationals interested in either immigration pathway must first meet the eligibility requirements of their chosen program.

They must then create an Expression of Interest (EOI) profile and submit it for provincial consideration.

The government reviews profiles according to its immigration priorities before inviting eligible candidates to apply.

Those who receive invitations must submit complete applications within 60 days.

Once approved for nomination or endorsement, candidates can apply to the federal government for permanent residence.

However, receiving an invitation does not automatically guarantee provincial approval or permanent residence.

Work Permit Options for Selected Candidates

Some candidates may also qualify for temporary work permits while completing the immigration process.

Under a federal measure introduced on June 9, 2026, eligible base provincial nominee applicants living in Canada can apply for bridging open work permits without first receiving an acknowledgement of receipt for their permanent residence applications.

Meanwhile, eligible AIP-endorsed candidates may qualify for employer-specific work permits valid for up to two years.

These options can help qualifying applicants maintain employment while their immigration applications move forward.

Province Prioritizes Workforce Needs

Newfoundland and Labrador continues to consider its labour market requirements when selecting immigration candidates.

Provincial priorities include health care employment, jobs outside major urban centres and graduates of Newfoundland and Labrador post-secondary institutions.

Candidates whose qualifications and employment backgrounds match these priorities may receive greater consideration during selection.

The province uses its EOI system to identify applicants who can contribute to local communities and support workforce requirements.
