Saskatchewan Sets 550 Immigration Spots for September Intake

Saskatchewan has set aside 550 provincial immigration spaces for employers in several capped sectors during its final 2026 intake. The September schedule reflects spaces moved forward from later planned intakes.

The Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) will accept applications from employers in retail, trucking, accommodation and food services on September 14 and 15. The province confirmed the allocation on September 2.

Final Intake Schedule

The 550 spaces will be divided among four sectors. Retail, trade and other services will receive 175 spots, with applications opening September 14 at 9:30 a.m. Trucking employers will have access to 150 spots from the same opening time.

Accommodation employers will have 50 spaces, with their intake beginning September 14 at 1:30 p.m. Food service employers will receive 175 spots, with applications opening September 15 at 1:30 p.m.

The province cancelled the November 2 intake, making September the final opportunity this year for employers in these capped sectors to support eligible workers.

How Employers Can Apply

Employers must submit an Employer Position Assessment (EPA) application to move a worker onto the provincial immigration pathway. Applications can be filed once the relevant intake opens and will remain open until the available cap is reached.

The SINP will return EPA applications submitted outside the designated intake periods without processing them. Each position listed on an EPA counts toward the sector’s cap. Employers can include multiple positions in one EPA, but capped-sector applications can include a maximum of three positions.

There is also a work permit requirement. Employers in capped sectors can submit an EPA only when the worker has six months or less remaining on their work permit.

Employers Should Prepare Early

Although the SINP says an intake window “may remain open for several days,” most sector spaces are usually filled within hours. The province advises employers to complete their EPA applications in advance and be ready to submit them when their sector opens.

EPA processing has taken about three to four weeks in 2026. Once approved, the position can support the worker’s SINP application through the corresponding job offer.

After an employer submits an EPA, the worker has 10 calendar days to review and confirm it. Following conditional approval, the worker has 60 days to submit a nomination application.

2026 Allocation and Nominations

The province said on September 2 that “nomination spaces previously allocated for later intakes will be made available in September.” The distribution could change if a sector reaches its cap or if Saskatchewan’s overall nomination allocation changes.

So far in 2026, Saskatchewan has filled 1,262 capped-sector positions through intakes held between January 13 and July 7. The SINP has a total nomination allocation of 4,761 for 2026. By June 30, it had issued 2,628 nominations, or about 55% of the year’s allocation.

For 2026, the province divided its nomination spaces into three categories: 2,380 for priority sectors, 1,190 for capped sectors and 1,191 for other sectors.

Employers in non-capped sectors face no specific intake dates and can submit an EPA at any time.
