Two November immigration draws bring the province's 2026 invitation total to 3,232, with selected candidates given 30 days to apply.
Newfoundland and Labrador has invited 75 foreign workers to take the next step toward Canadian permanent residence through two immigration draws held on November 2 and November 4, 2026.
The province issued 74 invitations under the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and one through the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).
Successful applicants can receive provincial nomination or endorsement before submitting their permanent residence applications to the federal government.
The November 2 draw invited 50 candidates, all through the NLPNP.
Two days later, the province issued another 25 invitations, including 24 under the NLPNP and one through the AIP.
The November 4 round marked the fourth draw in 2026 to issue just one AIP invitation.
The latest selections also continued a decline in invitation numbers. Earlier rounds issued 120 invitations on October 23 and 85 on October 29.
As of November 4, Newfoundland and Labrador had conducted 22 immigration draws during 2026, issuing 3,232 invitations.
Of these, 2,824 went to NLPNP candidates, while 408 were issued through the Atlantic Immigration Program.
Six draws invited candidates exclusively through the provincial nominee program. Most other rounds included applicants from both immigration pathways.
One of the year's largest selections occurred on July 28, when the province issued 445 invitations, including 400 under the NLPNP and 45 through the AIP.
Invited candidates currently have 30 days to submit their complete applications for provincial nomination or endorsement.
This temporary deadline replaces the usual 60-day response period.
Candidates approved through either program can subsequently apply to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada for permanent residence.
However, receiving an invitation does not guarantee nomination, endorsement or permanent residence approval.
Applicants must satisfy all relevant provincial and federal immigration requirements.
Eligible provincial nominees already living in Canada may apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit after submitting their permanent residence application.
This option can help qualifying applicants maintain authorization to work while awaiting a decision.
AIP-endorsed applicants cannot use this bridging permit pathway.
Instead, eligible candidates may qualify for an employer-specific work permit valid for up to two years.
Both immigration programs use an Expression of Interest system.
Interested candidates submit profiles that the province reviews against its immigration priorities.
A qualifying job offer is necessary for consideration under either program.
Selection priorities include healthcare employment, jobs outside major urban centres and graduates from Newfoundland and Labrador post-secondary institutions.
Candidates receiving invitations must provide supporting documents before the deadline.
The province's latest draws demonstrate its continued use of targeted immigration selections to address workforce needs and support regional communities.
