208 Candidates Invited in Newfoundland and Labrador Draw

Newfoundland and Labrador invited 208 candidates through its provincial immigration programs on August 10, marking the province’s 10th draw of 2026.

The latest round issued invitations through the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) and the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP).

Most Invitations Went to NLPNP Candidates

Of the 208 invitations issued, 186 went to NLPNP candidates and 22 to AIP candidates. The NLPNP therefore accounted for about 89.4 per cent of invitations.

The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism did not identify which NLPNP streams were included.

Under the province’s Expression of Interest, or EOI, system, candidates may receive priority based on labour needs. Factors can include employment in health care, sales and service, rural communities, and occupations with lower representation.

The August 10 draw recorded the lowest number of AIP invitations since June 10.

Province Has Issued 2,197 Invitations in 2026

Newfoundland and Labrador has issued 2,197 invitations through the NLPNP and AIP as of August 10. About 84.2 per cent have gone to NLPNP candidates.

Earlier draws were held on March 6 with 445 invitations (362 NLPNP, 83 AIP); March 30 with 245 (209, 36); April 13 with 210 (177, 33); May 1 with 190 (157, 33); May 11 with 186 (168, 18); May 28 with 103 (84, 19); June 10 with 108 (89, 19); July 10 with 57 (17, 40); and July 28 with 445 (400, 45).

How Candidates Enter the Selection Process

Most applicants under both programs need a valid job offer. The exception is people seeking permanent residence through NLPNP entrepreneur streams.

Foreign nationals who want to be considered must submit an EOI through the province’s Immigration Accelerator Portal. They provide information about their education, employment history, language ability and plans to settle in Newfoundland and Labrador.

The Office of Immigration and Multiculturalism reviews profiles and holds draws periodically. Candidates who rank highly may be invited to apply for a provincial nomination under the NLPNP or an endorsement under the AIP.

Newfoundland and Labrador gives preference to profiles that match its immigration and labour market priorities.

The EOI framework supports immigration and labour-market priorities. Candidates should keep their information current while waiting in the pool, because an invitation is not automatic and depends on ranking, labour needs and provincial priorities when the draw is held.

Candidates who receive an invitation have 60 days to respond. For NLPNP applications, the employer submits the application. Under the AIP, the candidate is responsible for submitting it.

Permanent Residence Comes After Provincial Approval

After receiving a nomination certificate or AIP endorsement, candidates can apply to the federal government for permanent residence. If approved, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada issues a confirmation of permanent residence.

As of August 10, IRCC listed processing times of 13 months for base PNP applications, seven months for enhanced PNP applications and 26 months for AIP applications.

EOI profiles remain valid for 12 months. Candidates who are not invited before expiry must submit a new profile, or have their employer do so for the AIP, to remain under consideration.
