Manitoba has invited hundreds of skilled workers, including STEM professionals, to apply for provincial nomination toward Canadian permanent residence.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) has invited 474 candidates to apply for provincial nomination as part of its latest immigration draw.

The September 24 draw focused heavily on skilled workers in science, engineering, architecture and information technology fields, with 417 invitations issued to candidates working in these occupations.

The province also invited a family physician, 16 French-speaking candidates and 40 individuals selected through strategic recruitment initiatives.

Candidates who received a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA) must submit a complete application for provincial nomination within 60 days. Those who receive a nomination may then apply for Canadian permanent residence through the federal government.

STEM occupations receive majority of invitations

The largest share of invitations went to candidates under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway.

A total of 434 invitations were issued through this pathway, including 417 invitations for candidates working in natural sciences, engineering, architecture and information technology occupations.

These occupations fall under Broad Occupational Category 2 of Canada’s National Occupational Classification system. Eligible fields include professional roles in natural and applied sciences, engineering and architecture management positions, as well as technical occupations connected to scientific fields.

The selection process considered candidates who had declared current employment in Manitoba and met the occupation requirements listed in their Expression of Interest (EOI) profiles.

The minimum score for candidates selected under the occupation-specific category was 760.

Healthcare and French-speaking candidates included

Manitoba also continued to support healthcare and francophone immigration pathways.

One invitation was issued to a candidate working as a general practitioner or family physician under NOC 31102. The candidate needed to have declared current employment in this occupation in their EOI profile.

The province also issued 16 invitations to French-speaking candidates. To qualify, applicants needed to identify French as their communication language with the MPNP and provide valid results from a government-approved language test.

Strategic recruitment initiatives bring 40 invitations

The Skilled Worker Stream for candidates in Manitoba and overseas provided 40 additional invitations.

These invitations were issued to candidates connected with strategic recruitment initiatives or eligible public policy pathways.

The invitations included candidates selected through regional communities, ethnocultural communities, employer services, francophone communities and the Temporary Public Policy to Facilitate Work Permits for Prospective Provincial Nominee Candidates.

The breakdown included 15 invitations through regional communities, nine through ethnocultural communities, nine through employer services, six through francophone community initiatives and one through the temporary public policy category.

Some eligible candidates may still miss invitations

The MPNP explained that meeting basic selection requirements does not always guarantee an invitation.

Candidates may not be selected if their language test identification number is missing, invalid or expired on the draw date. Applicants who claimed participation in a strategic recruitment initiative but did not provide a valid invitation number could also be excluded.

Candidates who were not invited may still have other options. Some Manitoba workers considered at risk may qualify for open work permits under the Manitoba Workforce Transition Bridge policy if they meet specific requirements, including having a previous provincial support letter and an active EOI profile as of December 31, 2025.

Manitoba continues immigration selections in 2026

As of September 24, the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program has issued 6,883 Letters of Advice to Apply through 19 immigration rounds in 2026.

The latest draw highlights Manitoba’s continued focus on attracting skilled professionals, particularly those working in science, technology, healthcare and other priority sectors.
