Alberta Invites 380 Workers in Latest Immigration Draws

Alberta has invited at least 380 workers to apply for provincial nomination through six immigration draws held between September 10 and 23, 2026. The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program, or AAIP, focused mainly on candidates working in healthcare, technology, manufacturing and agriculture.

Candidates who receive an invitation can submit an application for provincial nomination. Those approved by Alberta may then move ahead with an application for Canadian permanent residence through the federal government.

Six Draws Held in Two Weeks

The largest rounds during the period came through the Alberta Opportunity Stream, the Accelerated Tech Pathway and the healthcare priority sector.

On September 23, Alberta invited 113 candidates through the Alberta Opportunity Stream with a minimum score of 58. A day earlier, 100 candidates were invited through the Alberta Express Entry Stream’s Accelerated Tech Pathway, where the minimum score was 59.

The province also issued fewer than 10 invitations through the Law Enforcement Pathway on September 21, with a minimum score of 49.

Healthcare candidates received 100 invitations on September 18, with a cutoff score of 62. Agriculture candidates received 18 invitations on September 15 at a minimum score of 60, while the manufacturing draw on September 10 issued 48 invitations with the same cutoff score.

Several of these rounds set notable 2026 marks within their categories. The September 23 Alberta Opportunity Stream draw recorded the lowest invitation total for that stream this year. The healthcare draw on September 18 had the highest invitation total for its category, while the agriculture and manufacturing rounds posted their highest cutoff scores of 2026.

Alberta Continues Targeting Key Sectors

Most of the draws reflected Alberta’s immigration priorities for 2026. Along with healthcare, technology, manufacturing and agriculture, the province has identified construction, aviation and rural settlement as priority areas.

The September 21 Law Enforcement Pathway draw and the September 23 Alberta Opportunity Stream round were outside those sector-specific priorities.

Provincial nominees who submit a permanent residence application may also qualify for a bridging open work permit, allowing them to continue working in Canada while their application is processed.

Alberta Opportunity Stream nominees may benefit from a temporary federal measure introduced on June 9, 2026. The measure allows some eligible base Provincial Nominee Program applicants to apply for a bridging open work permit earlier than they otherwise could.

Thousands Remain in Worker Pools

As of September 23, the Alberta Opportunity Stream had 22,315 active worker profiles and had issued 8,296 invitations in 2026.

The Accelerated Tech Pathway had 1,992 active profiles and 1,466 invitations issued. Dedicated healthcare pathways had 1,222 active profiles and 895 invitations, while the Rural Renewal Stream had 1,736 active profiles and 1,043 invitations.

The Tourism and Hospitality Stream had 3,275 active profiles but only 227 invitations issued. Priority-sector draws and initiatives covered more than 5,011 active profiles and had produced more than 1,156 invitations.

Alberta had conducted 80 provincial immigration draws in 2026 by September 23, issuing at least 13,089 invitations across its various streams and pathways.
