Manitoba Invites 741 Workers For Permanent Residence Pathway

Manitoba has invited hundreds of foreign workers to apply for a provincial immigration pathway that could lead to permanent residence in Canada.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued invitations to 741 candidates on August 27, with the largest group focused on trades and transportation occupations. The selection included 600 candidates working in various skilled trades and transportation-related roles.

The latest draw also included healthcare and transportation workers, French-speaking candidates, and individuals selected through strategic recruitment efforts.

Skilled Workers Receive Invitations

Candidates who received Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) from Manitoba now have 60 days to submit a complete provincial nomination application to the MPNP.

If approved as provincial nominees, applicants may receive work permit support letters. These letters can help them apply to the federal government for work permits while continuing their immigration process.

After submitting a permanent residence application, eligible candidates may also qualify for a bridging open work permit, allowing them to continue working while waiting for a decision.

Trades And Transportation Workers Lead Selection

The August 27 draw focused heavily on occupation-based selection under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway.

Manitoba issued 600 invitations to candidates employed in occupations under major group 72 of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system. This group includes technical trades, transportation officers, and transportation controllers.

The province also invited 62 candidates working in selected occupations, including bus drivers, transit operators, general practitioners, and family physicians.

Occupation-specific selections represented the majority of invitations in this round, accounting for 89.3% of all invitations issued.

Other Immigration Streams Included

Along with trades and transportation workers, Manitoba selected candidates through other pathways.

A total of 58 skilled workers from Manitoba and overseas received invitations through strategic recruitment initiatives. These candidates were selected through programs such as Employer Services, Francophone Community, Regional Community, Ethnocultural Community, and a previous temporary public policy supporting provincial nominee candidates.

The Employer Services initiative accounted for the largest share of these recruitment-based invitations, with 28 candidates selected.

Recruitment initiatives overall represented about 7.8% of all Letters of Advice to Apply issued in the draw.

French-Speaking Candidates Also Selected

Manitoba invited 21 French-speaking candidates to apply for provincial nomination.

To qualify under this selection, candidates needed to identify French as their main language of communication with the MPNP and provide valid French language test results.

French-language candidates accounted for approximately 2.8% of all invitations issued in the latest draw.

Express Entry Profiles Included

Among the 741 candidates invited in the draw, 150 had provided a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code in their Expression of Interest profiles.

The latest selection highlights Manitoba’s continued focus on filling labour needs through targeted immigration pathways, particularly in industries facing demand for skilled workers.
