Express Entry: French Speakers Get 4,000 Invites in Latest Draw

Canada has issued 4,000 invitations to candidates with French-language skills in its most recent Express Entry draw, giving them the opportunity to apply for permanent residence.

Canada’s immigration department has invited 4,000 candidates to apply for permanent residence through its Express Entry system. This latest round focused on applicants who can speak French.

To qualify, candidates needed a minimum score of 419 under the Comprehensive Ranking System. They also had to submit their Express Entry profile before the early morning deadline of November 14, 2025.

This draw marks the fourth time this year that officials have selected candidates based on French-language ability.

Strong focus on candidates inside Canada

So far in 2026, immigration officials have mostly selected candidates who already live and work in Canada. Many invitations have gone to people with Canadian work experience or those nominated by provinces.

Recent draws show this pattern clearly. One day before the French-language draw, officials invited 2,000 candidates under the Canadian Experience Class with a higher score requirement of 515. Another earlier draw focused on provincial nominees, where only 324 candidates received invitations, but with a much higher score of 786.

These trends suggest that Canada continues to prioritize workers who can quickly settle into the labour market.

French-language draws remain significant

Despite fewer invitations compared to earlier rounds this year, French-speaking candidates still play an important role in immigration plans.

Earlier in 2026, one French-language draw issued as many as 8,500 invitations. Other rounds also saw strong numbers, including 5,500 and 4,000 invitations.

The latest draw, however, reflects a smaller intake compared to those earlier peaks.

Total invitations cross 65,000 this year

Canada has issued more than 65,000 invitations through Express Entry so far this year. Most of these have gone to candidates under the Canadian Experience Class, with over 32,000 invitations.

French-speaking candidates have received 22,000 invitations in total. Other categories, such as healthcare workers, tradespeople, and senior managers, have also received targeted invitations, though in smaller numbers.

Variety of draws continues

Officials have held 23 Express Entry draws in 2026 so far. These include:

  • Eight draws for provincial nominees
  • Seven for candidates with Canadian work experience
  • Four focused on French-language skills
  • Several smaller, targeted draws for specific occupations

This mix shows how Canada uses the system to meet different labour needs across the country.

What it means for applicants

For many candidates, especially those with strong French skills, this draw offers another opportunity to secure permanent residence. However, competition remains high, and score requirements can change quickly depending on the type of draw.

Applicants continue to watch these draws closely as they plan their immigration journey.
