Yukon invites residents, employers and recent nominees to share feedback on its immigration program before October 8, 2026.

A Yukon employer cannot fill a job, while a foreign worker waits to learn whether nomination is possible. Limited nomination spots now sit at the centre of a public review. If the system has affected your workplace or your life in Yukon, you have until October 8, 2026, to share your experience.

What Is the Yukon Nominee Program Consultation About?

The Government of Yukon opened a 30-day consultation on September 9, 2026. It wants to know whether the program meets workforce needs and operates fairly and clearly. Three surveys, managed by the Yukon Bureau of Statistics, collect the feedback.

The Yukon Nominee Program helps eligible employers recruit and keep foreign workers when qualified Canadians or permanent residents are unavailable. Employers apply; Yukon nominates; Ottawa decides on work permits and permanent residence.

Why Is the Government Asking Now?

Demand has grown, but the territory has fewer federally allotted nominations than employers would like.

For 2026, Yukon has a maximum allocation of 282 nominations. That adds pressure to decisions about limited places. The survey itself is not an application for one of those places.

Who Can Give Feedback on the Yukon Nominee Program?

Choose the survey that describes your connection to Yukon:

  • Yukon residents: Anyone living in the territory can complete the public survey, whether or not they have used the nominee program.
  • Yukon employers: Businesses and organizations operating in Yukon that employ people can complete the employer survey. Employers may also complete the public survey.
  • Current and former program participants: Foreign nationals who participated in the Yukon Nominee Program during the past three years may be invited directly to a separate survey by the Yukon Bureau of Statistics.

The participant survey requires an invitation; the public survey is for Yukon residents.

How Do You Submit Feedback Before the Deadline?

Step 1: Open the Official Engagement Page

Visit the Government of Yukon's Informing the Future of the Yukon Nominee Program page.

Under “How do I participate?”, choose the survey that applies.

Step 2: Set Aside About 10 Minutes

Yukon estimates each survey takes approximately 10 minutes.

Think of one or two first-hand situations and what could improve them.

Step 3: Describe the Problem and Its Effect

Instead of saying “the process is confusing,” identify what caused difficulty.

Was it unclear information, trouble understanding a requirement or a delay that affected staffing?

Explain what happened and suggest a practical change.

Keep personal details to what the survey asks for. Do not assume a survey response will update your immigration application or employer file.

Step 4: Submit by October 8, 2026

This is separate from nominee application dates.

The two 2026 employer expression-of-interest intakes closed in January and July. The survey does not enter anyone into an intake.

What Kind of Feedback Is Yukon Looking For?

The government has named seven areas it wants to understand. You can use them to organize your thoughts:

  • Whether the program helps employers find workers they cannot recruit locally.
  • How its application steps could be easier to follow.
  • Differences between workforce needs in Whitehorse and other Yukon communities.
  • Whether employers and workers can find reliable program information.
  • Barriers experienced by employers and nominees.
  • How well residents understand what the program does.
  • Where communication is missing or unclear.

For example, an employer could describe how an unfilled position affects business hours.

A former nominee could explain which instructions were hard to find. A resident could describe local workforce needs.

What Happens After the Yukon Nominee Program Surveys Close?

The Yukon Bureau of Statistics will review the responses.

The government plans to publish a What We Heard report in winter 2026–27 and use the findings to develop recommendations. Program changes are expected to begin in 2027.

No specific new eligibility rule, intake date or nomination priority has been announced through this consultation.

Yukon also says it cannot implement every suggestion. Labour needs, program goals, practical limits and federal responsibilities will all matter.

If you are applying, follow current instructions and maintain required immigration status. Do not delay a current application because you expect the rules to change.
