Manitoba Invites 793 Candidates in Latest Immigration Draw

Manitoba issued 793 Letters of Advice to Apply, or LAAs, in a new provincial immigration draw held on September 10, 2026. The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program focused heavily on people with existing connections to the province, including local graduates, spouses of graduates, healthcare workers, francophone candidates and strategically recruited workers.

Local graduates receive largest share

The largest group included 508 candidates selected under the Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway based on post-secondary study in the province.

To qualify under this category, candidates had to indicate that they or their spouse graduated from a Manitoba post-secondary institution. They also needed an Expression of Interest score of at least 825.

Candidates selected through this route must support their education claim when applying for provincial nomination by providing documents such as a diploma and transcript.

Healthcare workers also targeted

Healthcare workers received another significant share of the invitations.

Manitoba issued 233 LAAs to candidates who reported current employment in the province in occupations included under Broad Occupational Category 3 of Canada's National Occupational Classification system.

The category covers several types of healthcare employment, including professional health occupations, technical health positions, specialized middle management and jobs that support health services.

The province also issued 11 invitations to francophone candidates. Those selected had to identify French as their language of communication with the MPNP and hold valid French-language test results.

Strategic recruitment adds 41 invitations

Another 41 LAAs went to skilled workers in Manitoba and overseas who had been directly invited through strategic recruitment initiatives or through a previous temporary public policy for prospective provincial nominee candidates.

Employer Services accounted for 17 invitations, followed by the Francophone Community initiative with 12. Ethnocultural Communities accounted for seven, Regional Communities received three, and two were connected to the temporary public policy.

Overall, 752 invitations were issued through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba pathway across the graduate, healthcare and francophone selection categories. The additional 41 came through the broader Skilled Worker Stream.

Of the 793 LAAs issued, 272 went to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry profile number and job seeker validation code.

Successful candidates have 60 days

Candidates who receive an LAA have 60 days to submit a complete application for provincial nomination.

An invitation does not automatically grant permanent residence. Instead, it allows the candidate to move forward with the provincial nomination process.

Those who receive a Manitoba nomination may request a work permit support letter, which can be used when applying to the federal government for a work permit. Provincial nominees may also become eligible for a bridging open work permit after submitting their permanent residence application.

Some candidates who were not invited and remain in Manitoba's Expression of Interest pool may qualify for special work permits under a temporary public policy, provided they meet the required conditions.
